I love to travel.
And I love airports.
On my way to and back from Argentina I had a long connection in Dallas International Airport. Not enough time to visit downtown. But enough to feel I was in America.
And even security controls to arrive by plane in the USA are a real drag, even if is Texas is not exactly my favorite state in the US, being in America for a few hours is such a great pleasure!
Dallas FW airport is a concentrate of today America. Everything is so big and clean. People are so cool and casual (well, not all of them: we are in Texas and there are also many Bob Ewings around…) The design and architecture are really audacious. Consumption and materialism are at their climax. George W Bush is a local hero. Emplyees at the Information desk are wearing cowboys’ costumes. Latinos are more numerous than Black Americans. And the beautiful shops are delicious clichés and stereotypes of Amercia: « America, America, God shed His grace on thee! »
